Adaptive swimming lessons - kids & teens

These lessons are designed for kids and teens with disabilities. In partnership with Vecova, they will learn in small class sizes of one teacher for every four students to allow for more individualized and tailored lessons. A parent/support person is required to be in the water with each participant for every lesson. Lessons will focus on:

  • the three main learning stages of swimming, which are comfort, buoyancy and propulsion
  • developing water safety skills and greater independency in the water
  • adapting lessons to each participant considering sensory, physical, cognitive and emotional needs

Prerequisite: None
Please bring: Swimsuit, towel, goggles (if desired), nose plug (if desired), swim cap (if desired), comfort items such as familiar toys or objects to help ease anxiety and make the experience more enjoyable, and swim diapers if needed (for participants that are not yet toilet trained, swim diapers and plastic pants are required to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for all).
Forms/waivers: Participant needs form – information that will help us tailor lessons to the needs of participants
